Prenatal visits

Come visit us before your baby is born. At Wayland Pediatrics we encourage expecting parents to schedule a free prenatal visit. This is an excellent opportunity for you to meet with us and ask questions regarding the birth and care of your new baby. At this visit we will discuss routine infant care such as immunizations, as well as handling illness or injury or any other question that you feel should be discussed. We will also discuss some care issues which you will need to consider before the baby is born, such as breastfeeding, car seat choice and circumcision for boys. Please contact us (508) 358-2918 to schedule your prenatal visit. We are here to help you.

Upon arrival

When your baby is born, just tell your obstetrician and the hospital staff that Wayland Pediatrics is your pediatrician. No matter what hospital the hospital staff will notify our office. Our Pediatricians go to affiliated hospitals daily to examine your child and address any questions or concerns you may have. It is an exciting time but there are always questions and we love to help new parents.

To promote bonding, you should request to have your baby in the room with you as much as possible. We recommend you breastfeed your new baby but the choice to breastfeed your baby is a personal decision. We encourage you to hold your baby and place your baby skin to skin with you as often as possible in the days just after birth.

Once you are home call us at 508-358-2918 to arrange for the baby's first office visit. This visit will usually be in 2-3 days from discharge to check on the baby's weight, possible jaundice and other issues noted prior to discharge. This visit is also a great time to ask any questions that have come up since leaving the hospital.
